Top 10 Tuesday: Future Female Leaders

Today the world is very much run by men… I can see a future where there are female leaders through every level of society! They lead where they are and do so with panache, poise and power…

Which female characters are Future Leaders?Top 10 Tuesday Banner

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday over at The Broke and Bookish asks us to share our top ten characters who would make great leaders. (Leaders of what? That’s your decision. Who could lead a country, an army, a book club, a classroom, etc. Or maybe characters that would be trendsetters?)

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie
by Alan Bradley

Flavia de Luce

Head of MI5

Why? This little 11 year old girl is solving murders left and right in her home town and performing advanced chemistry experiments to help herself do it too! Later she’s off to spy school in America and yeah I have NO DOUBT that she will excel there too! She has the potential to take over all of England in fact if she wants to… I think she’ll be perfectly happy as head of the super secret British service!

Earth Girl
by Janet Edwards

Jarra Reeath

Head of Archaeology for the Universe

Why? This girl is passionate! And anyone with her kind of action paired with such passion will go far… she got onto dig sites before even getting into college as a Historian and learned all the equipment and already has experiences on the digs of the big cities of earth. She even got her pilot’s license so she could do surveys of the dig sites from the air!

Strange the Dreamer
by Laini Taylor

General of a ghost army

Why? This girl is motivated! She kept herself from growing (I won’t say why and ruin it) because it was important… That kind of willpower could shake the world. She has the power to tether souls passing into the next world to her, keeping them on the earthly plain… yeah she could rock that!

by Jenny Han

Lara Jean Song

Head Baker or Head Stylist

Why? This girl is all things creative! Plus she has the hands on skills to make either of these crafts work for her! She is one of the only characters I can see going in two totally different directions… She has that great balance of needy uncertainty that creates a philosophy of trying new things with a sense of what works and what doesn’t!

Principal at the How to Rebel and Make it Look Freakin’ Cool Training School

Why? Kady stood up for what she believes in the face of all opposition. And I mean ALL opposition… Like who does this girl think she is that she can just merrily hack whoever she wants and TAKE information kind of rebellion. In the face of worst things than not knowing she takes action and when all seems lost… you said it she keeps going, keeps trying and WILL NOT GIVE UP!

Kano Murasaki

Head Mistress of the Shrine Maiden School and Hidden Political Leader

Why? I loved Risuko’s attitude after she was sold. She contemplated running away and rebellious actions but instead chose to do the right thing and fulfill the contract her mother made. She diligently did all the training at the school and she bought into the ways being taught. She’s a curious thing too so I think she could fill Lady Chiyome’s shoes after being by the woman’s side for a long time!

Rubie Keane

Any Kind of Leader She Desires

Why? This woman of color had to deal with some intense racism and she refused to allow it to change her… to make her greedy or expectant. 1. Hi Ilsa… I’m not sure i understand your comment about Kady… I do think when she gets over uncovering conspiracies she will want a stable job as a principal! That’s all I’m saying… ♥️ it’s okay you don’t like Minya… that was my REBEL answer against the establishment 😉

  1. Great choices, Dani! I have to agree that Kady would make an excellent leader – I loved her so much in Illuminae. When you think about it, Hanna, in Gemina, would make an amazing leader just as well 🙂
Laea Jean is one of my favorite characters of all times, I see her being the sort of quiet leader everyone loves. Also, she’d bake cookies all the time ahah :p ❤

    1. I still need to read Gemina but it’s great to know there is a leading female there too! Amie sure writes women well! I’m glad you liked Lara Jean… she’s rather a spot on teenager so I’m not sure why she always comes to mind… but I think she’d grow out of that into a great young woman! ♥️ thanks for giving my list a looksee Marie!

  2. Illuminae!!! So true! Kady is awesome!!! It’s the only book I’ve read in the list, but it’s definitely the coolest too! 😛 Have you read Gemina? I have yet to do that.. Would love to know what you thought of it, compared to Illuminae. 🙂 Fantastic list, Dani! Your level of productivity is insanely amazing hahaha ! 😛

    1. Actually my productivity amazes myself too (someone must be watching out for me 😉) … your praise definitely shores me up! 😁 I HAVE NOT read Gemina yet and I’m frankly worried that I won’t get to it for a long time… so next year I’m doing my reading list differently with a sort of challenge and am going to pick book #2s from different series to read one a month… I’m going to include it! It’s all I can think of to galvanize myself…
