Top 5 Side Ships, Random Style

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Samantha and Lainey. Feel free to join in! Check out the group Top 5 Wednesday on Goodreads for the weekly topics…

This week’s topic is Favorite Side Ships. In other words our favorite relationships that don’t involve the protagonist! To be honest I’m pretty invested in the main couple. I kept thinking of love triangle rejects who I wanted an OTP to be provided for, lol… as that didn’t fit the bill I chose these 5…

#5 – Maude and Fraser

From the Nefertari Hughes Mysteries

I totally fell for Maude and Fraser in the first book with his journalist nature and her love of fashion and candy.  She makes a perfect Daphne to his Fred. What makes them more shippable to me is that Maude withstood his fears for her in book 2, Diadem of Death, and stood by her convictions to support her best friend Terry.

#4 – Dalmora and Krath

From the Earth Girl Series

In the books these two characters were students with Jarra and Fion studying to be archaeologist in the distant future. Dalmora is a beautiful, wealthy daughter of a famed vid director but who seriously wants to study history. Krath’s father is a conspiracy theorist who doesn’t know when to keep his trap shut! I totally felt these two opposites attract should make a contract together! I also loved the Beta couple from the lascivious porn planet who came to study history to be near their “ape” baby girl.

#3 – Hector and Ainsley

From The Problem with Forever

Hector and Ainsley were the best friends of leads Mouse and Rider. Hector was like a brother to Rider and lost a major person in his life. Ainsley lived life to the fullest and yet it didn’t stop tragedy from coming to her door.  Even after the story was over I could see these two finding solace together after the sparks that flew at their first meeting…

#2 – Evelyn and Walter

From Amelia Peabody Mysteries

To represent all those second leaders who fall in love like a normal person, overcome any angst from their first meeting and get on with loving one another I present Evelyn and Walter. Not as tumultuous as his brother and her best friend’s relationship they return to her estate and set able having children. May we have more such relationships in the future!

#1 – El Capitan

From Pure

This may be a really odd one but its more a request for a ship than an actual relationship. El Capitan is two brothers that melded together in the event that created the world in Pure. This man/men need a special someone willing to see to both men’s needs and affections. All applications apply at his office in town…

I randomly chose side couples that I could remember from my read shelf… It was an exercise in the obscure and made me realize that instead of less relationships in stories I’d like to see more. More with these side characters to contrast and mirror and illustrate for the angst riddled main couples…

  1. Again, I have not read any of these books. Where have you been hiding the list partner????
And yes I do agree with you, I am sometimes heavily invested in the main character that I tend to side notice the other character! Lol

Great picks and thanks for introducing me to them!

  2. I love your list! I loved Hector and Ainsley, too, and all the rest are new to me! Thanks for stopping by my blog and exposing me to some new reads!
