Why clocks as the focus of your world?
I chose clocks because this story is set in a fictional small town in New England, and anyone’s who has been to any New England town knows that at the edge the town common, there’s a church with a tall steeple and a clock. It’s there to remind the townsfolks that the top of the hour has arrived, and, more importantly, the Sunday morning service is about to start. Clocks like these, in general, can be simple on the outside and amazingly complex on the inside.
When I figured a way to include them into a storyline, I knew I was onto something. Then I came up with the characters of this clock world, most of whom resemble clock parts, like gongs, hands, springs, gears and keys, to keep the clocks running. Everything about the story is clock-related, so this story will live or die by how well I pulled it off. I’d like to think I did!

When the clocks in town stop, thirteen-year-old CJ discovers an unusual “clock world” where most of the citizens are clock parts, tasked with keeping the big clocks running. But soon the seemingly peaceful world is divided between warring factions with CJ instructed to find the only person who can help: the elusive Tick Tock Man.
With the aid of Fuzee, a partly-human girl, he battles gear-headed extremists and razor-sharp pendulums in order to restore order before this world of chimes, springs, and clock people dissolves into a massive time warp, taking CJ’s quiet New England town with it.
