The Backlist Reader Challenge 2017 is a year-long challenge for all those older books that have been piling up on your TBR pile and list — not just the ones you own, but the ones you’ve been wanting to read for a while now. Created by Lark at The Bookwyrm’s Hoard, feel free to join in!
The rules are pretty simple. Only (1) and (2) are mandatory.
(1) To count for the challenge, books have to be published before 2016 AND be on your TBR list or pile. Library books, books picked up at a yard sale, books borrowed from a friend, ebooks, print books, audiobooks — any book counts as long as it fits those two criteria.
(2) Create a goals or sign-up post on your blog. Then link your sign-up post here. The challenge runs from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. It ends at midnight in whatever timezone you’re in.
(3) Review the books you read. Post the links on the review linky. The review links are your entries for the year-end giveaway (a $10 gift certificate.) Reviews on Goodreads can stand in for a post on your blog. The review linky went “live” on January 1, 2017. It will stay open until January 3, 2018, to review any books you read on the last day of the challenge.
(4) On or after the end of the year, post a wrap-up post. Just for the fun of looking back and seeing your accomplishment! Please use #BacklistReader on Twitter, Facebook, and anywhere else hashtags are useful.
I am the queen of backlists, falling in love with the premise of a book but then good intentions falling to the wayside as life gets in the way. I also spent a couple years burnt out from reading and so have many a good series waiting to be read. So I’m shooting for a very do-able 24 books from my backlist on Goodreads.
I love seeing what other book lovers are reading and how they feel about their latest reads… please feel free to friend me!
